Effectiveness/Ratings:

From Puzzle Software Reviews http://www.puzzlesoftwarereviews.com/crossword_software.htm

Crossword Weaver is by far our favorite. It is very easy to use, has lots of fun features, and is perfect for educators. A free demo is available, so you can try it before you buy it. Teachers: there is a 25% off discount--make sure to ask for it! It is the only software that we have seen that can put your own words into newspaper-style puzzles. Others say they can do it, but this one actually does!”

Methods and Strategies for Classroom Incorporation:

1.      1.  This program can either be used for the teacher to create the puzzles and print them out or for the students to actually complete them on the computer.

2.       2. Either method allows for assessment of a complete puzzle with correct answers and spelling showing that students have a basic understanding of the definitions of new terminology.

3.      3.  This program would be best used in my classroom to reinforce terminology on an individual basis that could be used as an assessment for extra credit on a quiz or test. Students therefore would have to complete this program on their own time during individual activity or possible during a free or lunch period.
